End of first year- University of York Geese

When thinking about memorable moments of first year there were way too many to use and none of which would really make any sense,  so instead,  here are some geese. Whether you're walking to a lecture or walking home from a night out, first year has proven that it is impossible to do anything outdoors in York without coming into contact with one. And so, to document having finished first year I thought there'd be no better opportunity or appropriate time to share this digital illustration  (illustrated using Bamboo) of a Canadian goose.

Sadly, I have lost the image I used as inspiration to draw this, so instead here are some day and night edition images of what it's like walking around uni.

If reading about someone who's writing about a hopefully important realisation is going to make you cringe really hard, then I suggest that you do not continue reading... Colour block buildings and the importance of simplicity

I remember reading somewhere that if you ever get stuck on writing something the best thing to do is to write the type of thing you’d like to read. Therefore  (just as a little pre-warning) , this is the approach I'm going for in this post. At the moment I keep seeing posts on Instagram where the picture is typography of excerpts from books and articles written by small name authors. Although these are pretty hit and miss, I actually really enjoy reading them anyway. Whether or not you take anything from them you get the opportunity to read someone's thoughts/creations. U nlike bigger authors, they don't have as much of a pressure to keep up to a certain standard, and what they write often comes off a lot more raw and free-spirited which I always find refreshing. So, if this was one of those " excerpts that I never wrote" type of posts, the question when writing it would be what would I say? And consequently, what would I like to read?  Consider this a dear

Perspectives and Tenerife biro drawings

It all depends on how we look at things, and not how they are in themselves. - Carl Jung This quote is really as simple and pointless or as deep and meaningful as you want to make it, but as far as perspective goes it is relevant to pretty much everything you see and experience.  Here are two biro drawings I drew on holiday (scanned and then coloured in using the Microsoft Sketchbook app) and the photos of the places taken on my phone that got me thinking about this more. Alone, each of the drawings give a one-point perception. They comprise of small sections of the view from where I was sitting at the time drawn onto a tiny piece of paper,  blending what my eyes saw in the surroundings as well as part of my imagination- with each visual object squished to smaller dimensions and proportions.
